The position is : Technical Lead
Location : Mumbai
The company is a young start up which is looking to transform the classifieds space with some extremely innovative ideas. Within just 8-9 months from start, it is already having rankings comparable to several of the established players in the classifieds space. Our growth in traffic and user adoption every day is exceeding targets and projections. And we have big plan for leveraging this to transform the classifieds space. EBay and Matrix Partners are investors in this company.
The company is looking for some dynamic, creative people with a *very strong technical background* for its technology team who understand and enjoy a start-up environment and have a strong sense of ownership and commitment.
The job description
The role is a technical/project leadership role with a greater emphasis on technical leadership, task/design composition, architectural and hands on coding skills. You should be able to get the respect of the team and your manager based on your superior skills in these respects.
The right candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Between 5-10 years of development experience in a product development company, having played a technical leadership role in the development and maintenance of at least two major products requiring multi-server architectures which have gone live and continue to be live. The candidate will have participated not only in the development phase but will have been responsible for maintenance life cycle for a significant enough period of time
- Ability to analyze broad requirements and pro-actively propose the entire design solution.
- Excellent communication skills
- Very strong object-oriented, design decomposition and architecture skills with HANDS ON competency in LAMP stack development: the candidate will have not only the role of guiding other team members, but it is very important that he/she is eager to do hands on development of key components. A hands on leader who leads by example.
- Experience with rapid/agile development methodologies.
- Very good knowledge of PHP open source middleware and utilities, MVC frameworks, databases, performance optimization techniques.
Desirable competencies:
- Integration of search engines such as solr/lucene in PHP environments and tuning of search engines
- Search engine optimization (SEO) techniques
- Good knowledge of Linux shell scripting, configuration management, cron jobs etc.
